Welcome to MetroWest CYO

This is the new website for the CYO Basketball Norfolk Vicariate.  Once you've paid and registered with your local parish's program, please use our registration process to create a profile and gain access to all of SportsEngine's features.

Only registered members and guardians will be able to see their son/daughter's team and schedules.  Team's are not accessible by the public for privacy.  


How to add a Guardian

MetroWest CYO cannot add a guardian to your player's profile.  Please follow the instructions provided by SportsEngine to add your spouse/guardian via the mobile app.

Playing Rules: The BCA (CYO Basketball) adheres to the National Federation rules with the following exceptions:

No shot clock

Length of Games: 

  • (4) Eight minute quarters
  • Halftime: (5) minute
  • Overtime: (4) minutes
  • Timeouts: (5)

ALL LEVELS - (new) In the fourth quarter, if a team is up by 20 or more points the clock will be running time 

Bonus: (2) foul shots after (5) teams fouls per quarter.  Reset at the end of each quarter.

Slaughter Rule - any team that establishes a lead in the score of 20 points or more is not allowed to play any form of defense in the opponent's back court or to double team the ball in the opponent’s front court.  Double team allowed in the paint.

The 28.5 inch basketball must be used in all 5-6th grade boy’s & all girl’s games.  All Boys in grades 7-12th use a 29.5 inch ball.

CYO Game Operations & Responsibilities

 

Score Table Requirements
  • The home team is responsible for operating the game clock.
  • Both teams must keep a scorebook; however, the home team’s book is the official book.
  • Scorekeepers from both teams should sync after each quarter to confirm points, fouls, and any discrepancies.
  • The clock operator and both bookkeepers must be seated together at the scorer’s table at all times.
 
Game Format & Rules
  • All games will consist of four (4) eight-minute quarters.
  • Rules for games hosted by Boston CYO may differ. Please ask referees before the game if any local modifications apply.
  • No full-court press is allowed when the point spread reaches 20 points or more.
  • Running clock will be used ONLY in the fourth quarter when a team leads by 20+ points (new rule)
  • The website also provides the most up-to-date schedules and standings in real time.
Score Reporting
  • The home team coach must input the final score in the SportsEngine app immediately following the game.
  • If the posted score differs from what you have recorded, please notify us as soon as possible.
  • Follow the attached screenshot instructions — every step must be followed to ensure accurate reporting.
